As you might have guessed from the title, we’re here to celebrate the part of motorcycling that has a Made in Japan label – which, let’s face it, includes a hefty proportion of the best and most interesting stuff. Whether you’ve grown up on an exclusive diet or oriental machinery, or enjoy a mix of Japanese, European and American bikes, I hope you’ll find plenty of interest in the following pages.
We’ve picked a selection of the best machinery, and added a sprinkling of the rest – including a few classic blunders. Along the way we have tried to find out what it is that makes the Japanese so dominant, what they face in trying to stay on top in the face of attack from China and elsewhere, and how they’re planning to move forward in the future.
